west of Broome off the north-west Australian coast. |
| Description |
The Rowley Shoals is the
exposed end of a line of a subterranean mountain range beginning
near Christmas Island and running for thousands of kilometers
toward the north-west of Australia. The mountain tops form
several shelf atolls around 15km long and 7km wide, filled
with brightly coloured coral, teeming with sport fish. The
deep blue waters outside the atoll are rich with pelagics.

Indo-Pacific sailfish, Spanish
mackerel, wahoo, trevally, tuna and other pelagics outside
the atolls, red bass, polkadot trout, Maori sea-perch, long-nosed
emperors, hump-headed wrasse and other interesting reef fish
inside the atolls. All take lures and flies. |
