FUJI LOW RIDER GUIDES

Originally designed for use on tournament casting rods fitted with threadline reels, Fuji's new BLCAG Low Rider guides have a unique shape that enables them to flex more easily with today's high performance blanks, as well as enhancing casting distance. They are best suited to overhead rods, although those Japanese casters were achieving phenomenal distances with them when used with threadline reels.

Low Riders were initially only available with SiC rings, but are now come with Alconite rings for fishing situations where line friction is less of an issue. Look to bind them on one of Fuji's new NV 8 or NV 9 bluewater jigging blanks for a deadly sportfishing combination.

FROSTS' KNIVES

Frosts have been making knives in Sweden for over 300 years and their latest releases suggest they certainly know a thing or to about it.

The 9174P filleter has a comfortable polypropolene handle, and a 174 mm blade with a broad point, making it ideal for heavy duty filleting work when dealing with big tuna, barramundi, jewfish and knobby snapper. The 9180P is of similar dimensions, but has a slightly finer point for more delicate work on smaller fish.

For the budget-conscious, the 756 T sportfishing knife has a non-slip handle, a scaler on the back side of the blade, and comes in a handy polypropolene sheath with loops so it can be worn on the belt where it is always within reach.

All Frosts stainless steel knives have extreme strength, long life, as well as high resistance to moisture without rusting.

NEW ECOGEAR PRODUCTS

Ecogear's new Bug Ants and Short Curls will be the undoing of many species of fish around the country.

The 75 mm Bug Ants are a good imitation of a yabby, and will work effectively on a range of fresh and saltwater species. Made from a naturally sinking material, they feature a dynamite taste and explosive scent to ensure when a fish bites it won't let the lure go. Available in a range of colours, there are 8 lures per pack.

The 125 mm Short Curls best represent a worm. The detailed, ribbed body tapers into a long curl tail that flutters enticingly. Also impregnated with scent and taste, and available in a range of colours with 9 lures per pack, these soft baits will take a range of species in fresh and salt water.

BOGAGRIP (AND BOGA BRACKET)

The original BogaGrip's design has changed little over the years. Made from the highest quality materials, this great tool is particularly good for handling fish in cold weather, active fish, slimy fish, or fish with sharp teeth, gill plates and fins.

BogaGrips don't damage the protective slime nor puncture a fish, which means released fish have a much greater chance of survival.

The BogaGrip is available in three models. Model 315 - weighs fish up to15 lb in ¼ lb increments; Model 130 - weighs fish up to 30 lb in ½ lb increments; and Model 260 -weighs fish up to 60 lb in ½ lb increments.

For large fish, once the BogaGrip has a secure hold of the fish's jaw, it's a good idea to slide a wet hand along its belly to aid in bringing it onboard for unhooking and/or a photo.

And to keep your BogaGrip easy to find, the BogaBracket is a handy tool to have as well. It can either be fixed in the one place via a couple of self-tapping screws, or just make use of its suction caps to keep it totally portable.

STRIKEBACK HOOK REMOVERS

The unique design of this fish hook remover quickly dislodges firmly embedded hooks, both internally and externally. The tool attaches to the line in one easy action, and stays attached until the hooks are safely removed. In a big plus for anglers, it also shields hook points in the process to prevent re-embedding.

Made from non-corroding marine grade 316 stainless steel with a polished point, it has a plastic handle contoured for good grip when dealing with a thrashing fish. Two sizes are available - 180 mm (for smaller fish) and 300 mm (for larger species).
