THE SUPER SQUIDGIES The ground-breaking Squidgy soft plastic tails and heads are bright, colourful, and designed right here in Australia. Most importantly, fish just love them. SQUIDGY SLICK RIGS Anglers in the midst of a hot bite or those new to soft plastics are prone to putting replacement tails on crooked, and this can deter wary fish from striking. Fortunately though, the Squidgy folk have tackled this problem in their inimitable style and the end result is the Squidgy Slick Rig. Slick Rigs come rigged and ready to fish straight from the packet and, unlike conventional soft plastics, feature a hollow chamber in the soft body, so replacing tails is as foolproof as it gets.
To change a tail, simply insert the weighted, heavy-duty VMC jig hook in the chamber and push it to the end. The hook eye then pops out through a pre-formed slot, ready to be tied to the line. Based around the popular Squidgy Fish tail, there are 4 sizes and weights to choose from — 80 mm (7 g), 100 mm (11 g), 110 mm (14 g), 130 mm (19 g). This covers fishing options as diverse as estuary flathead right up to breakwall jewfish and offshore snapper. Slick Rigs come supplied with 6 tails per pack (4 for the 130 mm model), and there are 5 Squidgy colours to choose from — Black Gold, True Blue, Neon, and Drop Bear schemes, plus the delightfully-titled Techo Yawn. Replacement tails are available in packs of 6 (packs of 4 for the 130 mm model). Another important feature that separates Squidgy Slick Rigs from other internally weighted jigs on the market is that these jig hooks are completely re-useable. Once numerous big fish have shredded the existing tail, just slip another one on and you’re back fishing. It’s that easy. SQUIDGY FINESSE RESIN HEAD JIGS
Even when using micro-sized Squidgies, the combined weight of the lead head and tail can be enough to send timid, shallow water bream, estuary perch and bass bolting for cover, never to be seen again. This scenario was frustrating the hell out of Mr Squidgy, Kaj ‘Bushy’ Busch on his local estuaries, so he set about addressing the problem and the Squidgy Finesse Resin Head Jig was the result. The Resin Heads are the same shape as the standard Finesse lead heads, but without the weight. Consequently, they land lightly, dart enticingly when jigged with short, sharp twitches of the rod tip, and hang in the strike zone far longer than a lead-head jig ever could. Squidgy Finesse Resin Head Jigs are available in 3 popular finesse hook sizes — 2, 4 and 6 — and come 6 to a pack (8 for the size 6). Mate them to Squidgy Flick Baits, Squidgy Bugs and small Squidgy Wrigglers when targeting twitchy fish in shallow, clear water. FLICK BAITS JOIN THE BIG TIME
The 70, 85 and 110 mm Squidgy Flick Baits are killer soft plastics on bream, bass, estuary perch, yellowbelly, flathead and barramundi, and now they’ve been joined by a larger version that is set to take on the offshore heavyweights. The new Squidgy Flick Baits measure 145 mm (6 inches) in length and can be rigged on the equally-new Squidgy Finesse 4/0 7 g heads, the 3/0 5 g, 4/0 7 g, 5/0 9 g Resin Head jigs, or even unweighted and weedless on a worm hook depending on the target species and the fishing situation. Like the smaller Squidgy Flick Baits, these bigger models don’t have much in the way of built-in action, so it’s up to the angler to bring them alive with vigorous flicks and jigs of the rod tip. Alternatively, fish them dead-drift — especially deep under schools of surface feeding fish. The 145 mm Flick Baits are already doing the business on Australian salmon, yellowtail kingfish and snapper, and should work on tuna, samsons, queenfish and trevally as well. They are available in Evil Minnow, Lemon Chicken, Pacific Pearl, and Slick Green colours, and are supplied 8 to a pack. SUPER NEW SQUIDGY COLOURS
The deadly 75 and 100 mm Squidgy Shad Tail range has been expanded dramatically and there are even more great colours to choose from. Initial feedback from anglers (and fish!) has been extremely positive and they’re going to make a big splash wherever they are used. Arguably the pick of the bunch is an orange, gold and black stripe combo with a reflective foil insert. Known as TNT, it’s fair to say that it’s going to be dynamite wherever it is fished! In addition to this, the Squidgy Shad lineup now includes exciting new colours like Evil Minnow, Ginger Beer, Flash Prawn, Foxy Shad, Lemon Chicken and Techo Yawn. The 75 and 100 mm replacement Shad tails come 6 to a pack and 5 to a pack respectively.
